About Us
OUR MISSION
At KSD, we honor traditions and legacies of past dancers while building a strong foundation for the future. We believe that dance is more than movement - it is a journey of commitment, confidence and personal growth. We strive to inspire each dancer to carry forward a legacy of unforgettable memories, strong values and life lessons that extend beyond the studio.
CONTINUING THE TRADITION
Kirby's School of Dance carries on a cherished legacy that began with Kirby's mother, Sue Ann Romohr, who founded Sue Ann's School of Dance, a beloved fixture in the York community from 1979 to 2001, enriching the lives of countless students. KSD is proud to carry forward the tradition of dance excellence and community, now welcoming many former students of Sue Ann’s School of Dance back into the studio—this time as dance moms, sharing the joy of dance with a new generation.
Kirby's School of Dance opened its doors in September of 2006 in York, Nebraska and specializing in tap, jazz, and clogging. Today, KSD offers a wide range of classes including Tap, Jazz, Clogging, Ballet, Hip Hop, and Creative Movement, catering to both recreational and competitive dancers.
At Kirby's School of Dance, we are committed to providing a quality dance education in a supportive, family-friendly environment where dance lessons teach life lessons.
Established in 2006, our York studio has experienced steady growth. In 2013, recognizing this growth, Kirby's School of Dance proudly unveiled a new, spacious 5600-square-foot location in the York Towne Center. The York studio features two studios, sized at 1800 and 1200 square feet respectively, capable of accommodating large productions of 70 dancers or more. Complete with dressing rooms and a comfortable waiting area, this location is designed to meet the needs of our dance community.
Meet Our Team

Owner, Studio Director
Kirby Crawford
Hi, I’m Kirby Crawford, owner and founder of Kirby’s School of Dance. I opened the studio in 2006, but my dance journey began long before that—growing up in my mom’s studio, Sue Ann’s School of Dance. I was raised on a foundation of tap, jazz, clogging, and ballet, and those early years shaped my passion not just for dance, but for the life lessons it teaches: discipline, confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
Teaching dance is one of my greatest joys, but even more rewarding is watching our dancers grow into kind, capable, and confident young people. That’s why we’re proud to be a certified member of More Than Just Great Dancing®, a network committed to excellence in dance education and character development.
At Kirby’s School of Dance, I love providing dancers with unique opportunities—whether it’s learning from professional choreographers or traveling to cities across the country to expand their dance horizons.
When I’m not at the studio, I’m usually with my husband Jordan and our three amazing kids—Jackson, Charley, and Chandler—cheering from the sidelines at a sporting event or relaxing in our backyard.
Welcome to our dance family—I’m so glad you’re here!
